Will Arie Luyendyk Jr. get married after The Bachelor? Or did he just go on the show to help promote his racing career?
Bachelor couples haven't had a great track record over the past few years. So even though Season 22 hasn't yet premiered, fans are starting to question whether Arie joined the show for the wrong reasons.
Reports have emerged about Arie's relationships over the past few years. And he hasn't exactly acted like someone who wants to settle down.
One of Arie's exes even told Reality Steve that the Bachelor cheated on her when they were together. Sydney Stempfley said on the blogger's podcast that she no longer believed her relationship with Arie was monogamous.
There is also speculation that Arie hooked up with college girls. Even his former pal Jef Holm has called Arie's antics "disgusting." Still, Arie insists that his immature behavior is all in the past.
"I think everyone has a past, especially someone who's 36. And yeah, after The Bachelorette, I think it took a lot more time than I really realized to heal from that relationship," he said. "And so I traveled a lot and I dated around, but that's sort of what any normal person would do.
Arie did admit that he hasn't felt ready to get engaged since leaving The Bachelorette. But he believes being the Bachelor would change that.
"I was the same person before the show and I was the same person after the show, and I just went back to my regular life and tried to date," he told reporters. "When I got approached to do this, I really realized the last time I was really in love and really ready to get engaged was on the show."
"I’m definitely ready to settle down," he told People. "I want the next chapter of my life to start."
WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
Arie does end up finding love on The Bachelor. In fact, he has said that he fell in love with two women. But, according to Reality Steve, Arie got engaged to Becca Kufrin while filming the finale.
Yet Reality Steve thinks Arie does not really care about finding love and just joined The Bachelor to boost his racing career. And he doesn't think Arie and Becca will actually get married.
"Any guy who for 5 years since his last love who’s done nothing but date multiple women, cheat on them, and then just magically claim he’s ready, I mean, why wouldn’t we believe him? " Steve wrote of Arie. "Right behind ya’ buddy! Go find the girl you’ll spend the rest of your life with this season. Or at least the next 6 months."
