Week 2 of The Bachelor 2018 was crazy! Arie Luyendyk Jr. went on his first one-on-one date with Becca Kufrin while Krystal Nielson became the first Season 22 contestant to meet his parents! So is one of them Arie's favorite now?
The Bachelor began with all the women bonding over how much they liked Arie. Then Chris Harrison showed up and said all those good feelings wouldn’t last. Well, that’s honest. Then he handed out the date card. And Becca got the first one-on-one date!
Everyone watched as Arie zipped Becca’s jacket and put on her helmet before they rode away on a motorcycle. Meanwhile, Chelsea Roy was super jealous. Another contestant said her dad was killed in a motorcycle accident, and she knew other people who were killed and lost body parts. So it’s good she wasn’t on this date.
Arie brought Becca to see designer Rachel Zoe, who let her pick out clothes for that night. Becca then modeled them all for Arie, who revealed she got to keep all the outfits! He also gave her some super cute, sparkly shoes. Arie wanted to spoil her because she was down-to-earth. Then, in a super shocking moment, a man in sunglasses and a briefcase came with some Neil Lane jewelry. Arie really went all out for this first date. And, of course, they kissed.
Becca came back with all of her swag, and all the women were so jealous. “Oh my God, they’re gonna get married,” one contestant said.
Arie and Becca then met up again later that night on The Bachelor. Arie talked about his time on The Bachelorette and said he’s in a better position for a relationship now. He’s doing real estate and has slowed down more. He said he was scared he wouldn’t have a connection with anyone on the first night, but he was happy when he saw her. And he liked that she went into this with an open mind.
Meanwhile, the other women talked about who had kissed Arie and his “pillow lips” before the next date card came. And Krystal got the second one-on-one date! Krystal didn’t want to gloat in front of the other women, who were pretty upset.
Back on the one-on-one, Becca told Arie about her last serious relationship. She and her ex-boyfriend were on and off for seven years, and he was there for her when her dad passed away. Her dad was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was 14, but they got five extra years with him, and it made her family closer. Arie said he has gotten closer to his family too. He then gave Becca her rose, and she, of course, accepted. Becca even got to keep her earrings. Then there was one more surprise: A bunch of confetti fell down on them!
Everyone suspected that Arie was taking Krystal home because of the hint on the Bachelor date card, which made Chelsea super jealous. And it turns out, they were right! Arie and Krystal met at an airport and went to Scottsdale to see Arie’s neighborhood. He showed Krystal the Pizza Hut he worked at, the site of his first kiss, and his old high school. Then he brought her to his house. He showed Krystal his photo album and talked about his grandfather, who passed away in 2005. Arie and Krystal even watched old home videos.
Arie then took Krystal to his parents’ house. No pressure. Arie’s younger brother, who just got married, talked about how much he looked up to Arie. Arie talked about the first time he and Krystal met and how much he liked her red dress. Arie’s parents also talked about being together for 36 years. In her confessional, Krystal revealed that her parents divorced when she was young and she’s not close with her family, but she was pretty nervous to tell Arie.
In the mansion, the remaining women then got the next Bachelor date card. Maquel Cooper, Marikh Mathias, Tia Booth, Valerie Biles, Annaliese Puccini, Lauren Griffin, Kendall Long, Bekah Martinez, Jenny Delaney, Seinne Fleming, Jenna Cooper, Caroline Lunny, Brittany Taylor, Bibiana Julian, and Chelsea all got a group date. The ones left out were upset. And those going on the date were worried they wouldn’t get as much time with Arie since there were so many of them.
Arie, meanwhile, was busy taking Krystal out for the night. They talked about their date and Arie’s family, and then Arie asked Krystal about her family life. So she said she grew up in a “less traditional sense.” Her parents divorced when she was really young, her dad wasn’t a part of her life, and her mom was emotionally unavailable. She felt like her parents didn’t want her. When she was 9 or 10, she saved her birthday and Christmas money to buy herself a comforter. She had to grow up fast and take care of her little brother.
A year and a half ago, her brother called her because he’d been living on the streets for nine months and got attacked. She begged him to let her help, but he wanted to go back to Venice, so she bought him a bus ticket. Krystal got so emotional, but Arie said her background didn’t scare him. He could tell she was open and loving. Then he gave her his rose, she said yes, and they kissed. They then had a private Connor Duermit concert.
The next morning, Krystal didn’t want to give away too much about her date with Arie. The other women thought that she was being “shady.”
Finally, it was time for the group date on The Bachelor. Arie showed off his racing moves and then announced they were doing a demolition derby. Whosever’s car was left standing would be named the winner. Everyone was really into it, but Annaliese had a total breakdown because she had a traumatic bumper cars experience when she was a kid, which was absolutely ridiculous and amazing. Arie told her she didn’t have to do it, but he swore she’d be safe, and she agreed to participate.
Then the game was on. The women all decorated their cars, and they hit the track. Another racecar driver, Robby Gordon, came to be an announcer. They all slammed into each other, which seemed fun. Annaliese got hit, but Arie helped her out. Then she slammed Chelsea, Kendall, and more. Suddenly she was having fun. What a comeback. Bibiana and Brittany were also killing it. Brittany even went after Arie. In the end, it came down to Seinne and Tia. And Seinne won the trophy!
They all then headed to the evening portion of the date. Brittany, unfortunately, couldn’t join them because she suffered a concussion. And Chelsea, of course, immediately stole Arie away, which pissed everyone off. Chelsea wanted to explain what was so mysterious about her. She admitted that she had a 3-year-old son. But Arie has dated women with kids before, including Emily Maynard. So he was not turned off by Chelsea’s secret, and they made out.
Chelsea came back to find the other women talking about her. So she admitted that she wanted to tell Arie she was a mother. The other women then noted that they had their own stories too, though.
Arie then talked more with Seinne. She actually lived in Scottsdale for a while. She also went to Yale, which Arie was very impressed with. It was different than her big public high school. She also studied abroad in Brazil and Italy. After telling her story, she made out with Arie too.
Meanwhile, all the women were arguing over who was talking to Arie when, and Bibiana was getting more and more upset. When it was her turn, she refused to talk to him because there wasn’t enough time left to have a real conversation. She blew up and told the cameras not to follow her. She was in a rage. Arie was oblivious to it all, though, and was busy talking to and making out with Bekah. In the end, Arie gave the group date rose to Seinne, which really upset Chelsea and Bekah. Bibiana was also still frustrated, but she wasn't giving up.
Finally, it was time for the cocktail party on The Bachelor. Arie talked with Brittany first because she got hurt during the date. She went all out during the date so Arie gave her a “most hardcore” certificate. He then talked to Bekah, and they realize they had insane chemistry. Then, even though she had a rose, Krystal went to interrupt Lauren Burnham’s time with Arie. Arie told Krystal to wait, but he did eventually talk to her. This really upset the other women, especially Bibiana.
Arie went on to talk with other women, as well. Krystal, however, said she was not worried because some of the other girls were weird, young, and not ready yet. Bibiana, meanwhile, finally got some time with Arie. They talked about Arie’s dog, but then Krystal showed up again. Bibana was furious. And she confronted Krystal about it.
Bibiana said Krystal spoke with a “fake tone,” and she wasn’t falling for it. Plus, Krystal already had a rose and a date yet kept trying to talk to Arie. Krystal said she was there to have a connection with Arie, and she didn’t have much time. Plus, she had asked if Bibiana needed more time with Arie when she interrupted her. Bibiana wasn’t buying it. “Good luck, Krystal. I’m done with you,” she said. “… And mic drop.”
Finally, it was time for the rose ceremony. Becca, Krystal, and Seinne each had roses already. Arie then gave roses to Maquel, Jacqueline Trumbull, Bekah, Jenna, Chelsea, Lauren Scheleyer, Tia, Annaliese, Lauren B., Kendall, Brittany, Ashley Luebke, Marikh, Caroline, and Bibiana. That meant Jenny, Valerie and Lauren G. were eliminated.
Jenny was particularly upset that she got eliminated and didn’t even say goodbye to Arie. So he followed her. He said he had to make tough choices and he didn’t see their relationship happening. She said she was sad about leaving her friends, not him. She barely hugged him and was pretty passive aggressive. She thought it was shocking that she had been broken up with for the first time, and she was embarrassed.
Here are five of the most shocking moments from Week 2 of The Bachelor:
1. Becca Kufrin Got The First One-On-One Date
The first one-on-one date is always a huge deal on The Bachelor. This season it went to Becca Kufrin. And Arie Luyendyk Jr. went all out. Becca got to try on a bunch of clothes with Rachel Zoe. She then got to keep the clothes along with fancy shoes and jewelry from Neil Lane! Becca also opened up to Arie about losing her dad to brain cancer. In the end, he gave her the rose.
2. Krystal Nielson Opened Up About Her Family
Krystal Nielson got the second one-on-one date on The Bachelor. Arie actually took her to his hometown to meet his family, so the pressure was on. It went really well, but Krystal was nervous to open up about her own family. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she felt unwanted. She also had to care for her brother, who wound up living on the streets and getting attacked. Her story was really emotional. Arie was very supportive, though, and gave Krystal the rose.
3. Annaliese Puccini Had A Meltdown Over Her Bumper Car Trauma
Arie Luyendyk Jr. organized what was supposed to be a fun demolition derby group date for Week 2 of The Bachelor. But Annaliese Puccini had a complete breakdown over it. She had some horrible childhood trauma while riding in a bumper car, so she broke down crying. Arie, of course, was right there to support her and she wound up having a great time in the car, so it all worked out.
4. Chelsea Roy Caused Drama
Chelsea Roy, of course, was the first one to grab Arie Luyendyk Jr. during the evening portion of the group date on The Bachelor. She wanted to tell him she’s a single mom. The other women were pretty pissed, though. They said just because she’s a mom doesn’t mean they don’t have their own stories to tell Arie. They also noted that they had to leave things to be on the show, too.
5. Bibiana Julian And Krystal Nielson Got In A Fight
Bibiana Julian got increasingly frustrated about not having enough time with Arie Luyendyk Jr. on The Bachelor. So she was really pissed when Krystal Nielson went to talk to Arie during the cocktail party. Then Krystal actually interrupted Bibiana to talk to Arie again. Bibiana completely lost it. Krystal, meanwhile, didn’t seem to notice or care at all about the other women’s feelings. She may just become the villain this season.
