Amy, a cousin of the Duggar family, brought Josh's scandals into the spotlight once again on Monday. In her blog post summarizing the past year, she revealed how she first found out that Josh had an Ashley Madison account.
"September was a doozie!" Amy wrote. "Life was just wonderful … drum roll please…. until one of my family members made some terrible confessions. I knew nothing of the molestation charges, and I had no idea what the Ashley Madison site even was? I was completely shocked just like the rest of the world; the only difference was I was being fitted for my wedding dress with tears running down my face and a glass of wine in my hand as the news broke."
Amy Duggar continued: " I wondered what the heck was going on? A million questions flooded my mind. Rage came over me, sadness crept in, and reality sat in that the person I had known my entire life turned out to be a fraud, and a complete stranger. I’ve always heard that there were people in this world that lived a double life, but I never thought that someone so close to home would be living a lie."
Despite the harsh comments, Amy Duggar does still care about Josh and Anna. Amy told People on Monday, "I hope he gets the help he needs." Josh is currently in a rehab facility after admitting he's addicted to pornography.
In fact, Amy has bonded with Anna since the cheating scandal broke. Anna even attended Amy's wedding in September.
"Anna and I have gotten a lot closer this year, I'm grateful for that family love/friendship," Amy concluded.
Still, Amy's blog is evidence that Josh continues to tarnish the Duggar family name, even months after the cheating scandal. With his reputation destroyed, it's hard to imagine Josh appearing on TLC anytime soon. And since Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have stood by their son, they too have had a hard time finding paid gigs after the cancelation of 19 Kids And Counting.
That has led to net worth issues for the family. But a 19 Kids And Counting spinoff could solve these problems. TLC recently aired several specials about Jessa and Jill, and that could lead to a new spinoff.
Jill likely wouldn't participate in a spinoff because she is busy on her mission trip. But a series focused on the other Duggar sisters could bring in high ratings.
Jessa, Jinger and Jana have managed to distance themselves from Josh. And they are all likable enough to star in their own show. So as Josh's scandals continue to embarrass the family, a spinoff may be the only way to solve the family's net worth issues.
