Kate Middleton's due date is a long way off. But as she and Prince William wait to welcome their baby boy or girl, new details have emerged about her struggles with hyperemesis gravidarum.

Middleton suffered from the severe morning sickness during each of her first two pregnancies. And she is battling it in during her third go-around, as well. In fact, the Royal Family was forced to announce the pregnancy news earlier than usual because Middleton had to skip a public event while battling the illness.

"[Middleton is] still very much under strict doctor's orders to rest and take each day at a time," a source told E! News. The source added, "It makes for a difficult first trimester, but at this point, she is used to it. Even though she would rather not be!"

At the time, Middleton was just 11 weeks along, but she was feeling so awful that she had to miss her son George's first day of school. Prince William instead dropped him off solo.

"Kate watched the news from home," a source close to the royal couple told Us Weekly. "She was desperately sad that she couldn’t make it but she is on firm bed rest now until she feels better."

Middleton has been spending most of her time at Kensington Palace with Princess Charlotte. However, insiders say that the Duchess' condition has improved. She is even set to make an appearance at a Buckingham Palace reception this week.

"She has such a rotten time during these early months," a family source told E! News. "But she's out of the woods now and doing well."

But Middleton still has a ways to go in her pregnancy. Insiders say she is due in about six months, though the couple has not confirmed an exact date.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also haven't revealed if they are having a boy or a girl. And there are conflicting reports about the baby's gender. One tabloid site alleges that Middleton found out she's having a girl on George's first day of school.

Another report claims that Middleton is craving spicy food, and that this is a sign she's having a boy. But she did reportedly order spicy pizza while pregnant with Charlotte, so it seems she's just a fan of spicy food in general.
